Our story

ONO FOODS CO., LTD used be a small company dealing in dried fish locally in Kamaishi city, Iwate prefecture. The current president Akio Ono once worked in one of the major supermarket chains, but decided to take over its business after the sudden death of his father. Since then, 30 years has passed and the sales volume has grown by 30 times more.

“We supply delicious, convenient and healthy food, with our expertise of product development that satisfies the needs of customers.”

When our company was launched, we just followed the instructions of distributors in Tokyo to pursue large volume sales, which means we needed to endure small margins. Additionally, our city Kamaishi is far from city area, so the logistics cost is also high. Therefore, we have shifted part of our business into “B to C with mail-order system” and we started to invest in our R&D team to meet the demands of our final consumers.

Our products

Ono foods’ development starts in the kitchen where Washoku (Japanese authentic cuisine) is made. We make full use of the wisdom and skills passed down since ancient times in the preparation of exquisite and refined Washoku. Our Washoku products are of the highest quality and are packed into quickly frozen containers, each of which contains a single serving of a food item that can be prepared easily so that people can eat it anywhere, anytime.

The number of customers that regularly purchase our products by mail order or the internet amounts to about 40,000 nationwide and these products are gaining an excellent reputation.
